§ Mr. Ashtonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why the staff of Ranby prison, Retford, have been waiting since 30 April for a refund of their income tax on the value of their tied accommodation when most of the other prisons in the United Kingdom have received the money.
§ Mr. Peter Rees, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 6 July 1979; Vol. 969, c. 780], gave the following answer:
The reason is that the tax office concerned wished to deal at the same time with expenses claims made by the staff of Ranby prison, Retford. I understand that the repayments in settlement of both claims should be made within the next two weeks.
