HC Deb 12 July 1979 vol 970 c293W
Mr. Ashton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why the staff of Ranby prison, Retford, have been waiting since 30 April for a refund of their income tax on the value of their tied accommodation when most of the other prisons in the United Kingdom have received the money.

Mr. Peter Rees,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 6 July 1979; Vol. 969, c. 780], gave the following answer:

The reason is that the tax office concerned wished to deal at the same time with expenses claims made by the staff of Ranby prison, Retford. I understand that the repayments in settlement of both claims should be made within the next two weeks.
