HL Deb 12 July 1979 vol 401 cc1125-6WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is their policy that other member States of the EEC should observe the standards for mesh sizes laid down in the United Kingdom and what steps they are taking to stop unfair competition from continental boats which use meshes illegal in the United Kingdom.

The MINISTER of STATE, MINISTRY of AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES and FOOD (Earl FERRERS)

The Fishing Nets (North-East Atlantic) Order 1977, as amended, applies equally to British and foreign fishing boats within British fishery limits. The order will be enforced by British sea-fishery officers on all vessels without discrimination.
