The Attorney-GeneralIt is my noble Friend's view that there are many cases in which it would be generally regarded as unjust to prevent the courts from ordering one former spouse to pay maintenance to the other where there are no children. He has therefore no plans to introduce legislation to amend the law in the sense indicated in the question.
