Entitlement to other social security benefits and to the benefits of the National Health Service does not depend on the payment of contributions.
§ Mr. Michael Brownasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons have been registered as paying the class 1, class 2, class 3 and class 4 national insurance contributions, respectively, in each of the last five years.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe information available regarding the numbers of contributors in the most recent years is as follows:

§ Sir George YoungThe Government are currently reviewing all the evidence received from individuals and groups in response to the discussion document. Our policies will be set out later in a White Paper.
