§ Mr. Guy Barnettasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has received a copy of a pamphlet issued by the Rating and Valuation Association entitled "Information about the Rating System", and if he will make a statement about his policy on the rating system in the light of it.
§ Mr. KingI have seen a copy of the pamphlet. It is a thorough review of rating, written from the point of view of the rating profession. Most ratepayers, however, would consider that it greatly understates the unfairnesses in domestic rating. As to the Government's policy on the rating system, I have nothing at present to add to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Leicester South (Mr. Marshall) on 27 June.
