§ Mr. HurdDuring his visit to India from 2 to 3 July my right hon. and noble Friend had separate meetings with the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Morarji Desai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Charan Singh, the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Miniser, Mr. Jagjivan Ram, and with the Foreign Minister, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee. There was a valuable exchange of views on current international issues as well as on matters of bilateral interest. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to reaffirm the importance which we attach to our relations with India.
