§ Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for Trade how many representations have been received by his Department during the past three years on the subject of whales and whaling.
§ Mr. Nott, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 5 July 1979, Vol. 969; c. 672], gave the following answer:
Policy on this question is primarily the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, but I have received a very large number of representations in recent weeks, particularly about the import of sperm whale oil. The Government are looking sympathetically at the possibility of taking further action to restrict such imports.
