§ Mrs. Dunwoodyasked the Minister of Transport if, in view of the tragic accident in the centre of Sandbach on Monday 2 July, he will make emergency funds available to Cheshire county council with a view to increasing the priority of the inner relief road round Sandbach town centre, and implementing the plan for a new bypass.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeIt is for Cheshire county council to determine the priority of its schemes. The county, in its current transport policy and programme, accord a start date of 1983. As it has yet to initiate the process of determining a scheme at Sandbach and taking the necessary statutory powers, the question of funds does not arise.
