HC Deb 04 July 1979 vol 969 c640W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will arrange for suitable publicity to be given when road works impede the free flow of traffic from central London to London airport, Heathrow, and to Gatwick airport.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

On trunk roads where the Minister is the highway authority every effort is made to ensure that publicity is given to works liable to impede traffic not only in connection with these two airports but nationwide. It would not be practical or appropriate for our Department to co-ordinate publicity concerning roads and road works which are the responsibility of other highway authorities; the police and the motoring organisations perform this function.
