HC Deb 04 July 1979 vol 969 c644W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when the present road works at Comber, Carryduff, Co. Down will be completed; how long the work has so far taken; and why consideration was not given to the road users by carrying out work on half of the road at one time.

Mr. Goodhart

These roadworks have so far taken about 33 weeks but should be completed at the end of August. The contractor has worked on half of the road at a time so far as possible. However, peat has had to be excavated to a depth of 2 metres and it has been unsafe to allow traffic to use the other half of the road at the same time.
