HC Deb 04 July 1979 vol 969 c593W
Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) by how much he intends to reduce the budget of the Commission for Racial Equality in the current year; and what reduction he intends to make in staff levels;

(2) by how much he intends to reduce the budget of the Equal Opportunities Commission in the current year; and what reduction in staff levels he intends to make.

Mr. Raison

In common with central Departments, both commissions have been asked to suspend recruitment for three months and will be expected to reduce staff costs by a minimum of 3 per cent. The budgets of both commissions will be included in the Government's overall review of public expenditure.
