HC Deb 04 July 1979 vol 969 c619W
Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the local authorities in Scotland that continue to use corporal punishment in children's homes, day centres, assessment centres and list D schools.

Mr. Fairgrieve

This information is not available centrally except for list D schools, only two of which are operated by a local authority. Both of these are in Strathclyde, where the regional council recently decided to discontinue the use of corporal punishment in all social work establishments for children.
