§ Mr. Norman LamontThe possibility of introducing double summer time, or of extending summer time throughout the year, has been examined on a number of occasions. The conclusion reached was that any energy saving would be very small and would not offset the penalties. I have no reason to think that any re-examination of the position would lead to a different conclusion.
