§ Mr. Heddleasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has any plans to ensure that regional water authorities are made more accountable to the communities they serve; and whether he is taking any steps for more adequate representation to be made available to district and county councils.
§ Mr. FoxWater authorities are locally accountable through the majority of their members who are nominated by local authorities. We have no proposal to increase the number of local authority members.
