asked the Secretary of State for Industry what studies are being made by his Department on the diversification of sources of supply of essential raw materials.

Mr. David Mitchell

Responsibility for the supply of essential raw materials lies primarily with industrial users. There is, however, continuing and frequent contact between the different sectors of industry and the Department of Industry on the supply situation, including the possible need to diversify sources.
