Mr. Winnick

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much money is to be given to the borough of Walsall in 1979–80 under the rate support grant; how much was given in the 1978–79 financial year and what is the difference in real terms.

The total amount of RSG which will be payable to Walsall for 1979–80 will depend on decisions yet to be made affecting the increase order for the year.

The latest estimate for grant in respect of 1978–79 taking account of the 1978 increase order for that year is £35,900,394 comprising:
