HC Deb 02 July 1979 vol 969 cc411-2W
Mr. Straw

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the premises and accommodation in the area bounded by Bridge Street, Parliament Street, Victoria Embankment and Derby Gate, which are in the Government estate and available to it and the purposes for which such accommodation is used.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

All the premises in this area are in the Government estate except London Transport's Westminster station and the immediately adjoining premises. The usable offices at ground floor and above are allocated by percentage, as follows:

per cent
Government Departments 34
Parliamentary users 22
Let to other users 27
Vacant (but in need of considerable decoration) 17

In addition there are 19 shops, all except one of which are let; two flats; and one public house.
