§ 26. Mr. Skinnerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will now make a supplementary grant to local authorities to enable them to cover the cost of wage settlements.
§ Mr. ShoreNo. The rate support grant settlement will be updated next November in the usual way to take account of pay and price increases in the previous 12 months. This will, of course, be subject to cash limits but they will be increased to take account of the Government's recently announced initiative on the low paid.
