§ Mr. Ralph Howellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish 421W figures for each member State of the EEC and for Sweden, the United States of America, Australia and Japan, showing the level of gross income, including family allowances and measured as a percentage of local average earnings, at which a married couple with two children aged 15 and 12 years pay (a) income tax and (b) income tax plus social security contribution, at a rate or combined rate of 40 per cent. and 50 per cent., or the nearest equivalent, assuming no tax relief other than the main personal allowances, work expenses, &c., and that all the income is earned.
