§ Mr. Pattieasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish a table giving, for 1977 and 1978, in England (a) the number of National Health Service administrators and clerical staff, total full-time equivalents, and (b) the ratio of administrative and clerical staff to doctors.
§ Mr. Deakins:On 30th September 1977, 99,036.2 whole-time equivalent administrative and clerical staff were employed in the National Health Service in England, and the ratio to medical staff was 1.8:1. Figures for 1978 are not yet available.
