§ 39. Mr. Warrenasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will put forward proposals to the Council of Ministers to modernise the Treaty of Rome.
§ Mr. Judd:Amendment of the Treaty would require the unanimous agreement of the Governments and Parliaments of the nine member States. There is no present prospect of such agreement on significant modifications; but British objectives will be firmly pursued within the framework of the existing Treaty.
