HC Deb 23 February 1979 vol 963 c345W
Mr. Corrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why there is a five-week delay in the delivery of stock feed potatoes in the Scottish area of the Potato Marketing Board.

Mr. Hugh D. Brown

Transport problems caused by industrial action and extreme weather conditions have made it difficult to move supplies to meet the increased demand for stock feed potatoes. In addition, some producers have been unable, because of severe frosts, to open up their stores.

The Potato Marketing Board hopes to clear the backlog of orders within the next three or four weeks.
