§ Mr. Grocottasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what contacts exist between police forces in the United Kingdom and the South African police; and whether any such contacts would need his approval.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesSuch contacts may need to be made in the course of criminal investigations. During the past 12 months I have, as police authority for the Metropolitan Police, approved two visits to South Africa by Metropolitan Police officers engaged in such investigations. My approval would not be required for other contacts.
