HC Deb 22 February 1979 vol 963 c240W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Prime Minister if he will make a statement on his conclusion on the proposals received from the Kirkby workers' co-operative.

Mr. Alan Williams

I have been asked to reply.

Having given financial support to KME on four occasions and set up a working party at its request, the recommendations of which were not implemented, the Government feel unable to support the co-operative's proposals and consider that a receivership offers the best prospect of saving jobs.
