HL Deb 22 February 1979 vol 398 cc2080-1WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why homoeopathic postgraduate study is not eligible for grant aid; and when they propose to reverse this discrimination.

Lord WELLS-PESTELL

My Department allocates funds to postgraduate medical deans of universities to provide financial support generally for postgraduate medical education for general practitioners. While deans have discretion in deciding which educational activities they support, they take account of advice given by the Council for Postgraduate Medical Education. Generally they have not thought it appropriate to support postgraduate studies in homoeopathy, although they have done so occasionally.
