HL Deb 21 February 1979 vol 398 cc1907-9WA
Lord CHITNIS

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many members of the police force have been involved, over what periods of time and at what cost to public funds in the M.25 (Leatherhead Interchange) Public Inquiry since it reopened on 26th September 1978.

The MINISTER of STATE, HOME OFFICE (Lord Boston of Faversham)

I understand from the Chief Constable of Surrey that officers of his force have been on duty at this Inquiry on 42 occasions since 25th September 1978, usually for periods of up to six hours. The average number of officers deployed on any one occasion is 10. The estimated additional cost to public funds of deploying those who would not otherwise have been on duty is about £6,600.
