The Attorney-GeneralThe Interpretation Act 1978 consolidated the previous statute law on interpretation of statutes as proposed by the Renton committee. The Act made a number of corrections136W and minor improvements following the Law Commission's report of June 1978 which was prepared after consideration of some of the detailed recommendations for change in the Renton committee's report. The remaining recommendations relating to the interpretation of statutes could not be included within the scope of the Act of 1978, and their implementation would require further consideration.
