§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) how many British coal mines produce (a) under 50,000 tons per annum, (b) 50,000 to 1,000,000 tons per annum, (c) 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 tons per annum, (d) 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 tons per annum and (e) over 2,000,000 tons per annum;
(2) of the 223 mines producing hard coal in the United Kingdom, how many in (a) Wales, (b) Scotland and (c) England proved profitable for the most recent date for which figures are available; and if he will give the percentage of uneconomic mines for each part of the United Kingdom.
