§ Mr. Arthur Lathamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the British Waterways Board's conditions relating to users of pleasure boats and houseboats, which state that unless there are special reasons for so doing the Board will not greatly increase the number of houseboats on their canals, he will introduce legislation to make greater provision for mooring houseboats in canals.
§ Mr. Denis HowellNo. The British Waterways Board's canals are primarily for navigation and the number of houseboat certificates issued is a matter for the Board's judgment in the exercise of its statutory duties.
