§ Mr. Moonmanasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a further statement on the Times Newspapers Ltd. dispute, and what new initiative he proposes to take following the recent TUC proposals.
§ Mr. BoothI understand that, although the TUC has not made any definite proposals concerning the dispute at Times Newspapers Ltd., it has had informal discussions with some of the parties. As my hon. Friend is aware, I held joint meetings with the parties in December at 675W which a broad measure of agreement was reached on the basis for further talks under the chairmanship of the General Secretary of the TUC. I believe that further progress towards a resumption of negotiations can best be made within this framework.
