§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions he has had with the 555W Government of Hong Kong about increasing the rate of resettlement of refugees who are temporarily given sanctuary there.
§ Mr. LuardMy right hon. Friend maintains close and constant contact with the Governor of Hong Kong on this matter. At the Governor's request, the Government have made approaches to potential recipient countries to urge them to accept more refugees from among those in Hong Kong who are awaiting permanent resettlement elsewhere.
