HC Deb 13 February 1979 vol 962 cc537-8W
Mr. Powell

asked the Secreatary of State for Northern Ireland what evidence he has received that the contents of the tests set under the revised transfer procedure, which were taken in certain schools in Downpatrick on 7 November 1978, became known prematurely to pupils in other schools where the tests were not taken until 10 November; what instructions he has given in consequence regarding the results of those tests; and how the possibility of a recurrence will be excluded.

Mr. Carter

No evidence has been received that the contents of the comparability test papers in the revised transfer procedure were known prematurely by pupils in any schools in Northern Ireland. Discussions are taking place about the arrangements for transfer from primary to secondary education in 1980.
