HC Deb 13 February 1979 vol 962 cc471-2W
Miss Fookes

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether the publication "Network" receives editorial or other assistance from the Manpower Ser- vices Commission; what is the estimated cost of such assistance; what is its total circulation; what are its total costs; and how the publication is financed.

Mr. Golding

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the publication "Network" is financed wholly by the Manpower Services Commission.

The distribution of "Network" is currently 38,000 and includes employers running work experience schemes, local authorities, colleges of further education, a number of voluntary organisations and youth groups, the careers service and MSC staff involved in programmes to help the unemployed.

Taking into account production costs, staff costs, circulation and postage costs, the cost per issue is on average £4,500.

Editorial content for "Network" is approved by the Manpower Services Commission.
