asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the cost of providing oxygen to domiciliary patients by the National Health Service for the lastest available period; and on what basis this is purchased by the National Health Service.

Mr. Deakins

The cost of providing oxygen to domiciliary patients in England and Wales for the financial year ended 31 March 1978 was £2,941,588. This figure comprises payments to oxygen therapy service contractors for the supply of gas and remuneration for provision of the service.
