HC Deb 13 February 1979 vol 962 c533W
47. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science why the National Union of Teachers is overrepresented on the Burnham Committee.

Mr. Oakes

I assume that the right hon. Gentleman is referring to the balance of representation of teachers' associations in

Old Hall School—new school for educationally subnormal children completed 1976
St. Margaret's Hospital School—rebuilt as Queslett School Completed 1978
Three Crowns School of physically Handicapped—addition of a new nursery unit
New Partially Hearing Unit for junior pupils

A further partially hearing unit is included in the current (1978–79) building programme.

A peripatetic teaching service for hearing impaired an visually handicapped children has been developed.

All new school buildings are designed to allow access to the physically disabled and similar provision is made when improvements are carred out in older buildings.
