HL Deb 08 February 1979 vol 398 cc966-7WA
Lord KENNET

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether any tankers taking on oil at single buoy moorings in the North Sea will proceed elsewhere than to British ports, and if so what steps they will take to ensure that such tankers observe all the appropriate safety, health and employment norms.

Lord JACQUES

Tankers which take on oil produced and loaded offshore from installations on the United Kingdom continental shelf proceed to a variety of destinations.

United Kingdom registered tankers engaged in this trade and proceeding to ports overseas are subject to the same requirements as other United Kingdom registered tankers, which are enforced primarily by statutory inspections carried out on a regular basis.
