HL Deb 07 February 1979 vol 398 c817WA
Lord KENNET

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What explanation they have received from the Soviet Government concerning the interference by Soviet naval vessels with the British trawlers "Coriolanus" and "Arctic Buccaneer" rightfully operating under Norwegian licence in the Barents Sea, and what compensation the vessels concerned are to receive from the Soviet Government.

Lord GORONWY-ROBERTS

We have so far received no substantive Soviet reply to our representations and request for reimbursement of the fine imposed on "Coriolanus". We understand that the Norwegian and Soviet authorities have agreed that the Barents Sea "grey zone" provisions will be strictly adhered to in future.
