HC Deb 05 February 1979 vol 962 c66W
Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if he will refer to the Price Commission the problem of regional price variations within the United Kingdom, with particular reference to higher price levels in Scotland, request an authoritative survey and analysis, and give a commitment that any recommended solutions will be implemented.

Mr. Hattersley

I understand the concern about regional price variations to which the hon. Lady draws attention. As she knows, the Scottish Consumer Council is carrying out a study in his area and is expected to report fairly soon. I am considering what further action is needed.
