HC Deb 05 February 1979 vol 962 c33W
5. Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what steps he is taking to tighten up security regulations on North Sea oil rigs.

Dr. Mabon

The access of personnel to offshore installations and the control and day-to-day security of personnel once offshore is primarily the operator's responsibility. However, in this as in wider security matters, the operators receive advice, guidance and, as appropriate, assistance and support from the police, the Armed Forces and the Department of Energy. If the hon. Member has a specific point in mind regarding the tightening up of security, it might be more appropriate for him to write to me.
