Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he plans to compensate Air Canada and Iberia for the loss of their investment at Heathrow should they transfer to Gatwick; what estimate of costs are involved; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Clinton Davis,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 1 February 1979; Vol. 961, c. 540], gave the following information

Investments at Heathrow, their extent and how they should be treated are one of the factors in the continuing discussions with the airlines concerned about the transfer of their services to Gatwick.
