HC Deb 05 February 1979 vol 962 cc57-8W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the incidence of cancer of the adrenal gland; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moyle

Cancer of the adrenal gland is a rare condition; the number of new cases registered each year in England and Wales averages 80. Cancers of the adrenal gland occur in infancy and adult life, but about a quarter are found in children under five years old. Tumours may arise from any of the various types of cell in the adrenal cortex or medulla and result in a number of different and complex conditions that are difficult to diagnose and treat.
