§ Mr. HoramYes. Design standards for new roads are concerned with road safety and the operational efficiency of road transport and are kept constantly under review in order to take account of experience, economic considerations, social factors and a substantial programme of acident research. Present standards have evolved from many years of experience and research by this and other countries but modifications are made as fresh evidence becomes available. Updating has continued since the last major definitive document was issued in 1968 and further modifications will be issued from time to time.
