§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will reconsider his policy for the transfer of certain scheduled airline services from Heathrow to Gatwick; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisAs was explained in the airports policy White Paper, the transfer of services to Gatwick is essential to the relief of congestion at Heathrow and to the accommodation of air traffic in the London area. Passenger charter services have been banned at Heathrow since 1 April 1978, but significant transfers of scheduled services to Gatwick will also be required.
§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he plans to compensate Air Canada and Iberia for the loss of their investment at Heathrow should they transfer to Gatwick; what estimate of costs are involved; and if he will make a statement.
