HC Deb 21 December 1979 vol 976 c497W
Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many Small Firms Service calendars were printed; what was their cost to public funds; what was the reason for their production; to whom were they circulated; how these recipients were chosen; and if he will order the production of such printing to cease forthwith.

Mr. David Mitchell

Production of 49,800 Small Firms Service calendars for 1980 cost £5,050. Their purpose is to promote the Small Firms Service. Calendars have been distributed to firms which might need to use the service and to organisations such as clearing banks, chambers of commerce, trade associations and those providing professional services—for example, accountants—who are likely to be aware of small firms to which the service would be helpful and in a position to recommend the service to small businesses in need of help with their development plans and problems. Distribution of the calendar is undertaken by small firms centres based on their local knowledge and contacts. Production of the 1980 calendar was completed by mid-November.
