asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will instruct new town development corporations and the Commission for the New Towns to allow industrial tenants to buy the individual units that they occupy on any blocks of such units offered for sale in accordance with the policy he has imposed.

My right hon. Friend has been concerned that existing lessees should have an opportunity to purchase their properties as these are offered for sale, providing this can be done without a material reduction in the sale proceeds, and guidance has been issued to the development corporations and the Commission for the New Towns accordingly
