HC Deb 21 December 1979 vol 976 c484W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the percentage of unemployed young people in the 16–18 age group in Great Britain and in Strathclyde, Merseyside, Tyneside and London and the South-East, respectively.

Mr. Jim Lester

Unemployment rates by age are not available except at national level. Following are the available estimates for Great Britain, for October 1979:

percentages
16–17 11.8
18–19 10.0

NOTE: Whilst the figures are presented to one decimal place, they should not be regarded as implying precision to that degree.
