asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many children attend fee-paying schools in Northern Ireland.

Grant-aided grammar schools	…	57,582
Grant-aided special schools	…	2,467
Independent schools	…	503

Fees are paid from public funds for the vast majority of pupils attending grammar schools, and for all pupils attending special schools.
