§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Employment what administrative improvements he is planning in unemployment benefit offices.
§ Mr. Mayhew[pursuant to his reply,13 December 1979]: There is a continuing programme of computerisation of 104W unemployment benefit offices, which is due for completion about 1982. Apart from this and the recently introduced arrangements for fortnightly attendance and payment there are proposals for changes in liaison procedures on supplementary benefit claims. Some further savings are expected to flow from a current review of staff requirements related to work load in unemployment benefit offices.
