§ Mr. Bradfordasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what were the amounts of national insurance contributions which were written off by his Department at the end of each of the accounting years ending in October 1978 and 1979, due to the failure of companies, which went into liquidation and for whom his Department was the principal creditor, to meet their outstanding accounts.
§ Dr. VaughanIt is not possible to identify cases where the Department was the principal creditor in a liquidation. The Department is concerned only with proving its own debt, and may be unaware of debts due to other creditors. The amounts of national insurance contributions, including national insurance surcharge, written off due to insolvency of companies and individuals were, for the financial years ending March 31:
