asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects to receive his Department's working party's report on the effects on health of lead in all its guises; if he will list the members of the working party and its full terms of reference; and if he will undertake to publish the report in full.

I now understand that the working party hopes to deliver its report to me by the end of January. The working party's members are:

Professor P. J. Lawther, CBE, MB, BS, DSc, FRCP: Professor of environmental and preventive medicine, St. Bartholomew's hospital medical college, University of London.

Dr. D. Barltrop, MD, FRCP: Director, Department of child health, Westminster children's hospital, London.

Dr. R. M. Chamberlain, MB, ChB, FFCM, DCH: Senior epidemiologist, Central public health laboratory, London.

Professor B. E. Clayton, PhD, MD, FRCP: Professor of chemical pathology, Department of chemical pathology and human metabolism, Southampton general hosital.

Professor W. W. Holland, MD, BSc, FFCM: Professor of clinical epidemiology and social medicine, St. Thomas hospital medical school, University of London.

Dr. R. G. Lansdown, MA, PhD: Principal psychologist, Department of child psychiatry, Hospital for sick children, London.

Dr. B. Moore, MD, BSc., FRC Path: Honorary research fellow, Department of mathematical statistics and operational research, University of Exeter.

Professor T. E. Oppé, MB, BS, FRCP, DCH: Professor of paediatrics, St. Marys' hospital medical school, University of London.

Professor M. Rutter, MD, FRCP, FRCPsych, DPM: Professor of child psychiatry, Institute of Psychiatry, University of London.

Dr. H. A. Waldron, MD, PhD, MRCP, MFCM: Senior lecturer in occupational medicine, London school of hygiene and tropical medicine, University of London.

Mr. R. Waller, BSc: Member of M R C scientific staff, St. Bartholomew's hospital medical college, University of London.

Dr. W. Yule, MA, Dip Psych, PhD: Senior lecturer in psychology, Institute of Psychiatry, University of London.

Its full terms of reference are: To review the overall effect on health of environmental lead from all sources and in particular its effect on the health and development of children. The working party will also assess the contribution lead in petrol makes to the body burden.
